The purpose of this blog is to chronicle for ourselves and share with others what we’re building, what we’re growing, what we’re learning, what we’re dreaming about on our small-scale homestead. I imagine our primary audience will be friends and family who are interested in following our progress along the way, but I hope we’re also able to provide helpful information for those also interested in the homesteading lifestyle.

The Homesteaders

Mackenzie is a former elementary school teacher, now full-time mom to our three wonderful kids. She is also a Noonday Ambassador.

Cliff is a former high school English teacher, and therefore a recovering lit geek. He is now a full-time pastor at our church.

We met in high school (we have the senior prom picture to prove it), dated throughout college, got married two weeks after graduating, and then moved out to Seattle. We’ve been here ever since.

We adopted two wonderful kids through the foster system, and currently have a third placed in our home, who we hope to adopt someday.
